What to Look for in Siding

Buying siding is a trying experience if only because it can cost so much money. Its a long lasting decision that you’ll have to live with for a good amount of time as siding has a long shelf life. Well, at least it’s supposed to be, picking low quality siding can actually be a detriment as it can wear or get banged up and no long be any good protecting you home. That’s why long lasting durable exterior is necessary, so that it can properly protect the home from weather, rot, and other problems that can besiege a home.

We personally suggest getting steel siding. Steel siding prices are expensive upfront but their resilience and durability make it a good long term choice for a remodeling home owner. There are other types of sidings out there, such as wood, or plastic, but these are prone to getting broken from rocks and other debris the can come off the road or a lawn mower. Overall, those two alternatives simply won’t cut it.

The next best alternative is, however, vinyl. It isn’t nearly as expensive as regular metal siding and it does have better lasting protection then the other two previously mentioned materials.  It does have a slight safety risk, vinyl is flammable but only likely to catch on fire from a flame on the outside. It isn’t nearly as recyclable as metallic siding but it doesn’t take nearly as much energy to create either. Basically, it’s a solid second choice to steel.
